“…Nu-Hi is a fantastic organisation making a difference where it really counts – with people who have experienced drug addiction and who are trying to turn their lives around. Yaina Samuels, the business driver, knows exactly what they are going through having experienced addiction and recovery herself showing enormous determination and strength of character. These qualities have led her to set up Nu-Hi to enable people with personal experience to educate young people about drug addiction. Yaina is a very engaging and fascinating speaker and I would highly recommend her and the work of Nu-Hi.”

Dawn DaviesChief Executive - Creation Development Trust

“Words that I write, could never express or describe Yaina Samuels for the passionate, dynamic, honest & sincere lady she is. Yaina has a way of connecting to individuals regardless of their background, diversity, status or troubles like no one else. When Yaina speaks her passion for helping others and her honesty of her past personal experiences shines through taking her audience on a very exciting, educational but emotional journey which is filled with sadness, education, sorrow, desperation, inspiration but most of all she herself is an individual that gives drug users their families and support workers of drug users hope, belief, strength that the addiction can be overcome. Yaina I believe is also a key Ambassador role model in Wales to spread the word to children, young people, families and workforces to raise the awareness and effects that drug taking has on all as a preventative for the future generation.”

“…Involvement and Inclusion (I & I) training was refreshingly good both in the delivery of the session as well as the content of the course. The facilitators encouraged us to generate fresh ideas on new ways of involving service users in service delivery and creative ways of achieving participation and involvement. Many thanks”

Faruk OgutService Development Manager - Nightingale House (Cadwyn H.A.)

“…I thought your session on Thursday was so inspirational. It is very rare that you can come out of a lecture feeling motivated but I thank you most sincerely for making me feel like that, I also know that this was the opinion of all my peers. We have been buzzing ever since and still talk about the impact that you and the organisation had on us, so much so that both myself and my friend stopped to talk to you afterwards and offered ourselves as volunteers. We would be honoured to volunteer for such a worthy, inspirational and motivational organisation.”

“…The sessions delivered to the Supporting People students at Cardiff Met. were both informative and very much enjoyed. The enthusiasm as well as expertise engaged the students, and this enhanced the learning experience encouraging them to rethink many of their preconceptions. Methods of delivery were both professional and informal, involving debate and group exercises. We shall be making more use of the Nu-Hi team in the coming years.”

Catherine BoswellSchool of Health Sciences - Cardiff Metropolitan University

“…As an occupational therapy student at Cardiff University I truly valued the unique lived experience that the Nu-Hi team shared in a presentation that they gave at Cardiff University. It was delivered at a very insightful and personal level on what is a very emotive subject and one that is also very prevalent in the community. The team tailored the presentation to the learning aims of the occupational therapy course and was dynamic in a way that I felt I was a part of the presentation. I believe that Nu-Hi’s approach in delivering substance misuse awareness is an effective one and long may it continue. Thank you Nu-Hi.”

Ian NurseFinal Year Occupational Therapy Student - Cardiff University

“…Just wanted to say a very big thank you to you and the team for yesterday’s session, it’s not very often that students are still buzzing at the end of the day and are still in the classroom at that time.”

Nina CoggerAdmissions & Lecturer Widening Access Coordinator – School of Healthcare Studies, Cardiff University

“…I found the training that Nu-Hi facilitated to be a good combination of expertise, gained from personal experience and professionalism.  They put the participants at ease and made it a comfortable space to explore a number of relevant issues. The various activities and training styles kept the session upbeat and interactive and allowed everyone to fully participate at their own pace and level. The trainers interacted well with the group and were able to adjust their style to fit with individuals who were from a wide range of backgrounds and understanding of the issues. I really enjoyed the day, learned a lot and was impressed by the number of different activities which were used and how smoothly each session flowed with excellent team working between the trainers.”
